1. BGSA Elections
We are still looking for a Communications Committee representative, an Organismal Seminar Committee representative, a Website administrator, and and Post-Doc representative. Let me know if you’d be interested in running for 2019-2020!
2. Coffee Hour
Coffee hour will be Wednesday April 3rd at 10AM in the BGSA room – this time with bagels again! Come chat, eat, and hang out!
3. Speaking of the BGSA room …There have been complaints of cockroaches running around. Please make sure food items– like cookie packages, coffee cans, boxes with teabags, etc… – are closed and /or sealed at all times? Also, please make sure that cups and dishes are washed out and dried after use. The exterminator has already been in the room. Please note that any beige powder that you see under sink, in back of microwave do not remove. Also in bottom of cupboard under sink.
4. Equity Diversity and Inclusion Panel
Creating an Inclusive Science Ecosystem: A panel discussion on equity, diversity and inclusion in academiaWednesday, April 3 from 3:00-5:30pm Leacock 232What is the current state of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in academia and the world of science? What can faculty, staff, and students do to help get us to a fully inclusive academic world?Panelists will address these questions and more, by drawing from their EDI-related research and activism, as well as their personal experience as members of the academic community, to define the current gaps and envision practical change processes. The panel will be followed by a networking session with complimentary refreshments.
